Based in Zurich, Tanja has more than two decades of experience as arbitration counsel and arbitrator in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations in various sectors, including international sales, energy (including oil and gas), mining and natural resources, dredging, commodities, telecommunications, construction and pharmaceuticals. 

Prior to founding Planinic Arbitration, Tanja was a partner in the arbitration team of a major Swiss law firm. She also worked in the London arbitration group of a leading international law firm. Tanja  was a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris from 2017 to 2024.

Tanja holds a law degree from the University of Lausanne and a postgraduate degree in international law from the University of Cambridge (LL.M.). She was admitted to the bar in Switzerland in 1999. She has dual Swiss and Montenegrin nationality, and speaks French, German, English, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Italian, and she also has a passive knowledge of Russian.
